Xbox 720: Blu-ray inside, always-on netcon required

Posted by Martinez392 on April 2, 2012 at 7:00 PM Comments comments (0)

Xbox 720 has been fully detailed to some third-parties, VG247 has learned, and has been slotted in for a Christmas 2013 release. And yes: of course it’ll have a Blu-ray drive.

VG247 has learned that Microsoft has now detailed Xbox 720 to certain partners and has internally confirmed the machine for a Christmas 2013 release.

The next generation Xbox will have a Blu-ray drive, contrary to a recent report.

Multiple sources have confirmed this morning that the machine will have two GPUs. One said: “It’s like two PCs taped together.”

We’re waiting for final confirmation of specs, but the graphics cards are thought to be equivalent to AMD’s 7000 series GPUs, but “not CrossFire or SLI”. The GPUs aren’t structured as they are in a normal dual PC set-up, in which the two chips take it in turns to draw lines of the same object: Xbox 720′s graphics units will be able to work independently, drawing separate items simultaneously.

It was reported last week that PlayStation 4, internally codenamed Orbis, will also be powered by AMD hardware.

There will be “four or six” cores to the Xbox 720 CPU, one of which will be reserved for Kinect and one for the OS.

Xbox 720 will require an always-on internet connection as an anti-piracy measure.

We’ve also been told that the next generation of Kinect will be built into the device as standard.

The details have emerged in the wake of a hastily removed tweet from Sean Tracy, a technical designer for Crytek, that said he was attending the “Durango summit” in London at the end of February. Durango is though to be the codename for the console.

Microsoft is not expected to announce anything pertaining to its next machine until next year.

Many developers have been posting job openings for “next-gen” and “future-gen” systems for months.

Lionhead and Bethesda are just two of the latest.

Victor Cruz Does The Salsa At The Grammys, And The Ladies Lose Their Freaking Minds

Giants receivers Victor Cruz and Mario Manningham just handed out a Grammy for best Rock performance. And while presenting, Cruz did his patented salsa dance. We’ve pulled video, as well as some reactions from the ladies.

And the ladies, well. The ladies loved them some Victor Cruz. First, here’s the video, in which LL Cool J introduced Manningham (who made perhaps the most pivotal play in the Super Bowl) and Cruz (who was wearing white shoes at the Grammys). We’re sure Cruz is tired of doing this Mamba at this point, but after he sees the reaction it got online, he might be re-energized.

The Giants and Philadelphia Eagles are always great theater and they put on a great show today in Lincoln Financial Field.Eli Manning threw four touchdown passes, including the first two of Victor Cruz’s career, and two Aaron Ross interceptions highlighted a stout defensive effort as the Giants defeated the Eagles, 29-16.Manning threw four-quarter scoring passes to Cruz and Ahmad Bradshaw to enable to Giants to overcome a 16-14 deficit. The Giants improved to 2-1, while the Eagles 1-2.Philadelphia scored 13 unanswered points in the second quarter, including Henery’s 38-yard field goal on the final play of the second quarter, pull to pull within 14-13 at halftime. The Eagles took possession at the Giants’ 46 after a 27-yard punt out of bounds by Steve Weatherford. They advanced to the 20, where Vick fumbled and recovered the ball for no gain as the seconds ticked off the clock and Philadelphia out of timeouts. The field goal team rushed onto the field and Henery connected as time expired.McCoy’s 11-yard touchdown run with 1:54 remaining in the quarter had lifted the Eagles to within 14-10. On second-and-10 immediately after the two-minute warning, McCoy took a handoff and stepped forward. Finding nowhere to run, McCoy moved left and turned upfield. He sidestepped Antrel Rolle at the eight on his way to the end zone. The score concluded a seven-play, 71-yard drive that included Vick passes of 17 yards to tight end Clay Harbor and 13 yards to Jeremy Maclin. The drive began on the Eagles’ 29-yard line after the Giants came up a yard short on fourth-and-three when Travis Beckum slipped and fell while catching Manning’s pass to the left side. Henery scored Philadelphia’s first points on a 21-yard field goal with 7:47 remaining in the quarter. Before the kick, the Eagles traveled 77 yards in 14 plays and 8:02. The longest play on the drive was the first, Vick’s 17-yard pass to DeSean Jackson. Philadelphia then moved mtheodically down the field. The Giants almost got away without allowing a point, but Kenny Phillips could not hold on to Vick’s third-and-goal pass to the end zone for Steve Smith. Henery came on to kick the field goal.A takeaway and two Manning touchdown passes helped give the Giants a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. On the Eagles’ first offensive possession, they advanced to the Giants’ 19-yard line, where Vick’s second down pass for Steve Smith was intercepted by cornerback Aaron Ross, his first pick in almost three years. Ross returned the ball to the 27-yard line. Vick was pressured by Jacquian Williams on the play. Two Ahmad Bradshaw runs totaling 19 yards and two Manning completions advanced the ball to the Philadelphia 40-yard line. On second-and-five, Jacobs ran out of the backfield and up the left side, uncovered by any Eagles defender. Manning threw a pass that Jacobs caught at the 20 before sprinting untouched to the end zone for a 7-0 lead with 6:04 remaining in the quarter. It was the fourth receiving touchdown of Jacobs’ career and first since Dec. 6, 2009.After a Philadelphia punt, the Giants took possession at their own 18-yard line. Two Jacobs runs left them with a third-and-two at the 26. Manning then threw a pass to the left side for Victor Cruz, who caught the ball at the 34 and soon sidestepped an attempted tackle by safety Kurt Coleman – who then collided with cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, causing both defenders to fall to the ground. Cruz then took off the deserted left sideline and scored his first professional touchdown to give the Giants a 14-point lead.

Vick hurt in Eagles' loss to Giants, 29-16

Posted by Martinez392 on September 25, 2011 at 5:10 PM Comments comments (0)

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - September 25, 2011 (WPVI) -- With Michael Vick knocked out of another game, Eli Manning and the New York Giants wouldn't let the Philadelphia Eagles finish off their comeback. Manning threw four touchdown passes, including two to Victor Cruz, and the Giants beat the Eagles 29-16 Sunday. Vick started despite suffering a concussion in last week's 35-31 loss at Atlanta. He left with a broken right hand in the fourth quarter after helping the Eagles overcome a 14-0 first-quarter deficit to take a 16-14 lead. It's uncertain how long Vick will be out. Without their Pro Bowl quarterback, the Eagles (1-2) hardly look like the "Dream Team" that entered the season with Super Bowl or bust expectations. The Giants (2-1) have won two in a row and snapped a six-game losing streak against their division rivals. In their last meeting at the Meadowlands last December, the Eagles rallied from a 21-point deficit with 8:17 left, and won 38-31 on DeSean Jackson's 65-yard punt return for a touchdown on the last play. Manning threw for 254 yards, and Ahmad Bradshaw ran for 86 and had 53 more receiving, including a TD. Filling in for the injured Mario Manningham, Cruz had three catches for 110 yards and his first two career scores. Aaron Ross, who was benched in the second half of New York's win over St. Louis last Monday, had two interceptions that led to 14 points. LeSean McCoy had 128 yards rushing and one TD for Philadelphia, which has blown two fourth-quarter leads in consecutive games. After McCoy was stopped for a 3-yard loss by Michael Boley on fourth-and-1 from the Giants 43, Manning drove New York in for the go-ahead score. He tossed a 28-yard TD pass to a well-covered Cruz to put the Giants up 20-16. Jacobs ran in for the 2-point conversion to make it 22-16. Cruz outfought Nnamdi Asomugha and Jarrad Page to make the catch near the goal line and fell into the end zone, losing the ball after he crossed. Mike Kafka replaced Vick on the ensuing possession and Ross intercepted his first pass. Manning connected with Bradshaw for an 18-yard TD pass to put the game away. Vick finished 16 of 23 for 176 yards and one interception. He ran for 31 yards. Vick looked shaky early, but made a few nice throws before leaving. He didn't seem all that happy after the Eagles kicked a field goal to pull within 14-13 at halftime. Vick looked angry as he walked off the field, waving his arms and pointing. Jackson tried to calm him down, but Vick didn't seem interested in listening. The Eagles dominated time of possession by a nearly 3-1 margin throughout the first three quarters, but didn't take the lead until the final minute of the third when Alex Henery kicked a 21-yard field goal. It was a disappointing end to a drive that began at the 10 and stalled at the Giants 1. The Eagles had a first down at the 2 and failed on four runs to get it in. Philadelphia got a lucky bounce on that drive. Vick ran 8 yards for a first down on third-and-6 from the 14. Vick fumbled at the end of the run, but the ball bounced forward and left tackle Jason Peters caught it in the air. Peters rumbled for 5 more yards. Vick left the game for X-rays on his right hand after that drive and was temporarily replaced by Kafka. But he returned during a time out while Kafka was in the huddle and played one more drive before going to the bench. Steve Smith made a crucial mistake on the first ball that came his away against his former team. Smith left the Giants for Philadelphia and returned ahead of schedule from knee surgery to be ready for Week 1. Vick's third-down pass on Philadelphia's first drive hit Smith in the hands and bounced in the air to Ross, who caught it at the Giants 8. Ross returned the interception 19 yards, and Manning needed six plays to lead New York into the end zone. Rookie linebacker Casey Matthews, who was moved from the middle to the weakside spot earlier in the week, bit badly on a play-fake that allowed Jacobs to get wide open. Manning's perfect throw hit him in stride and the Giants went up 7-0. Manning connected with Cruz late in the first to give New York a 14-0 lead. Cruz caught a short pass at the Giants 34, but broke Kurt Coleman's tackle and sprinted down the sideline. Cruz again got away from Coleman, when he collided with Asomugha at the Eagles 46, and the second-year pro cruised into the end zone for his first career score. Philadelphia answered with a long drive that resulted in a 21-yard field goal by Henery. The Eagles uncharacteristically ran the ball heavily on the 77-yard drive, keeping it on the ground for 11 of 15 plays. But they settled for 3 points after reaching the 3. After the Giants turned it over on downs at the Eagles 29, Vick got going. He had completions of 13 and 17 yards on a drive that was finished off by McCoy's nifty 11-yard TD run. McCoy broke a tackle, cut outside and ran into the end zone to get the Eagles within 14-10. Henery nailed a 38-yard field goal before the half ended to cut it to 14-13.
